Usually Laurie is the one to post on the site, but tonight I felt it was my turn.
These past few months have been extremely busy for me personally. Between Hexagon Metrology and Black Tie Solutions, I have put in more hours every day/week/month that I really care to admit. So many hours of work acutally, that I havent spent more than a few days outside this entire summer. If I was single, that wouldnt be much of an issue, but having a beautiful wife and two beautiful children, this is a little harder to balance. Fortunately they understand and know that it will not always be like this. Regardless, I've literally been stuck behind a computer monitor every night after I get done with long hours for Hexagon so I can get to work for Black Tie Solutions developing my client sites. Most nights I've been getting to bed between 1 and 3 am. That doesnt make it very easy to wake up early in the morning to go to the office for Hexagon. Even still, I love my career, working both for Hexagon and for myself. I take pride in what I do, I work hard and fast, and try to provide the highest quality service. I do my best to make sure my employer and my clients get what they pay for. In the end, I'm still left feeling a little tired and wore out, and even a little grumpy at times.
Well, tonight has been one of the first nights in a very long time that I've been able to go outside, cut the grass, and most especially laught and play with my wife and children. After cutting the grass and picking up the clippings, we sat down on our bench on the back deck and relaxed together. That is, until I found the hose... ;) Jordan wanted some water in his watering can and just happened to get sprayed. I had to ask him to let me spray him before I would fill his watering can. He finally relented and said ok. Sharp kid, but still cant outwit and out negotiate his dad yet. My logic, water in the watering can if you let me soak you apparently prevailed. Regardless, he cried b/c he got cold and wet. Soon afterwards though he was spraying Laurie, Aubrey and I. We were so soaked and all laughing so hard. It was such a wonderful relief. I honestly cant remember the last time we all laughed without care and felt so happy and in love as a family.
Tonight has really been a wonderful blessing, and I am so filled with joy because of it. This night has been so much more refreshing than even a vacation could have been. Saying that, I'm still looking forward to my 3 weeks of PTO (Paid Time Off) in the Philippines in October.
On a side note, I've recently created a FaceBook account. Social websites are a great way to keep in touch with family and friends, and my only hesitation for taking so long to create an account on any social websites is that of a professional nature. In todays job market almost all companies will do background checks on potential hires as well as current employees. In many cases these background checks include checking your social website accounts on sites such as FaceBook, MySpace, etc. Though I have nothing to hide, you never know when something can be taken out of context to keep you from getting that next big promotion or new job.

i am glad you got a break from all the stress of work and had the time to relax and spend quality time with the fam. i am sure that you'll get lots of those too when you will be in the philippines
